Impact

Positively Africana By Aimee is a founder-led platform rooted in Ubuntu philosophy and the legacy of Tate Bikuwe. We celebrate African culture, amplify real authentic African stories, and create economic opportunity for women artisans and entrepreneurs across the continent.

Ubuntu means “I am because we are.” It guides how we partner with makers, honor culture, and build a platform where everyone benefits.

Every product you buy. Every class you take. Every story you read through Media By Aimee. Every virtual experience you book. Every gift you give. It all matters.

Our Impact Commitment

25%

of all profits support women entrepreneurs and artisans in the Congo

75%

funds operations, team, product quality, and platform growth to scale our mission nationally

This is not a campaign. It is built into how we operate.

Continent-Wide Makers We Work With

We partner with women artisans and cultural entrepreneurs across Africa, including makers in the Congo and Kenya, and other regions across the continent. Our collections reflect the diversity of Africa—different countries, different crafts, different stories—connected through one purpose: dignity, visibility, and opportunity.

We prioritize direct relationships, fair partnership, and authentic sourcing. No mass production. No middlemen. Real craftsmanship, real people, real impact.

Congo Makers

We work directly with women artisans and entrepreneurs in the Congo who create jewelry, bags, clothing, and home decor. These are skilled craftspeople—brass workers, beaders, seamstresses, designers—who pour their expertise into every piece.

Kenya Makers – Jitegemee

We partner with the Jitegemee Children Program in Kenya. Our sisal basket bags directly support their mission to provide education, opportunity, and dignity to children in need.

Meet the Makers and Artists

Meet Rosine, a Congolese artisan from Bukavu whose work reflects cultural pride, resilience, and care. Through her partnership with Positively Africana By Aimee, Rosine has grown her workshop, improved her craft, and created opportunities for other women to earn income with dignity. Her story is not unique—but it is powerful. It is the story of a woman who chose to invest in herself, who said yes to partnership, and who is now building a future that reaches beyond her own family to lift up her community.

Meet Our Team

Our team is built on the same principles: founder-led, mission-driven, community-powered. Every person on this team is committed to celebrating African culture, supporting our artisan partners, and building a brand that matters.

Maasai Women – Artists, Entrepreneurs, Singers, Dancers, and Cultural Protectors

Meet the Maasai women artists, entrepreneurs, singers, dancers, and cultural protectors who create our beaded jewelry and bring joy to their community. They are skilled craftspeople, keepers of tradition, and vibrant members of their community. They handcraft our signature beaded pieces with precision and pride, and they celebrate life through dance, song, and togetherness. When you wear our jewelry, you support their artistry, their entrepreneurship, their cultural legacy, and their thriving community.

From Bukavu to Northampton

Reflects exactly what we stand for: visibility for African communities, celebration of women entrepreneurs, and the power of connection.

Why This Matters

I grew up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and I experienced it first hand. I built Positively Africana By Aimee because my impact must reach back home, and because African people deserve visibility that is true, dignified, and complete.

This platform exists to amplify African stories in a way that reduces stereotypes, honors truth, and shows the brilliance behind the culture, the craft, and the entrepreneurship.

As a Mount Holyoke College alumna, I love seeing our impact in action. Watching African women entrepreneurs grow is deeply inspiring, and it is exactly why this work matters.
