Lauren is a storyteller, teacher, dancer, choreographer, educator, and traveler. She is a Professor of Jazz Dance and Pedagogy, Associate Director of Dance at UMass Amherst, and a mother of two. Originally from the SF Bay Area, Lauren creates spaces for communal sanctuary and sees these practices as a blueprint for radical reclamation and transcendence.
Family Jazz is a joyful, story-driven dance experience designed for everyone. You don’t have to be a parent to participate — this is a welcoming space for families, friends, solo dancers, and anyone curious about moving, connecting, and having fun together.
